IEEE IMAS 2026 YP Competitions

IEEE IMAS 2026 Young Professionals Competitions

The IMAS 2026 Conference invites undergraduate students and recent 2025 graduates to
participate in the Graduation Project Competition in the field of electromagnetics and its
applications. This competition provides a platform to showcase graduation projects, including designs, simulations, and/or prototypes, through dedicated exhibition booths during the conference. The competition highlights high-quality student engineering work with strong technical depth, creativity, and practical impact, and fosters engagement with researchers and industry professionals.

Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION – IMAS 2026

The IMAS 2026 Conference invites recent M.Sc. and Ph.D. graduates to participate in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition and present their research in a concise and impactful format. This is your chance to showcase your work to audience away from the technical papers track.

The competition challenges participants to communicate the essence of their research in only three minutes, presenting their ideas clearly and effectively to a non-specialist audience. It also provides a valuable opportunity to network with fellow researchers and professionals in the field.

Submissions are welcomed in all areas of electromagnetics and related fields, including antenna design, electromagnetic wave propagation, RF and microwave systems, wireless communications, metamaterials and advanced materials, radar and sensing, computational electromagnetics, photonics, and related applied physics topics.

Event Details

IEEE International Microwave & Antennas Symposium (IMAS)
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
19th – 22nd October 2026

Eligibility

M.Sc. and Ph.D. recent graduates. The degree must have been officially completed and awarded within the last three years (May 2023 – May 2026)

Candidates should be IEEE members / student members in AP-S or MTT-S

Topics of Interest

Research topic must fall within the above mentioned fields and their related topics

Participation in 3MT supports competitors to:

Communicate their ideas effectively;
Describe their research findings to a non-specialist audience;
Increase their profile among the research community; and
Network with their field experts.

Application Process

The application will be processed based on the submitted form, which includes the following:

Thesis summary (max 5 pages) including author name and thesis title on top, clearly describing the task, method, and results with figures, and highlighting impact on professional knowledge, applicable technologies or industry applications, plus at least one outstanding contribution by the candidate.

Signed endorsement letter from the thesis advisor/supervisor confirming the thesis significance, completion of the degree (within the last three years), and the candidate’s eligibility for the competition.

A list of publications by the candidate.

Presentation Format

Selected candidates should present their 3MT thesis in person during the dedicated Competition Session of the IEEE IMAS 2026 conference.

A maximum of 3 min. oral presentation with a maximum of 4 PowerPoint slides

The selected candidates will be asked to upload their presentation before August 15.
