This introductory talk will acquaint the audience with the problematics of materials’ characterization at high frequencies.
The challenges of precision, repeatability, and reproducibility will be illustrated with the findings of industrial benchmarking actions, such as those conducted under the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (iNEMI).
Selected means by which the IEEE MTT Society creates home for further collaborations and dialogue serving the field will be highlighted.

This presentation will feature recent advancements in the characterization of intrinsic microwave material parameters over a frequency range spanning from 1 GHz up to 250 GHz.
Practical examples of precise characterization of various types of materials, such as dielectrics, semiconductors and conductors, in a variety of shapes will be discussed and presented.
These include solid sheets such as polymers, semiconductors and PCBs; liquids such as cooling fluids and resins; and powders such as polymer powders and ceramics.

This hands-on experience will involve test-fixtures such as Split-Post Dielectric Resonators, broadband Fabry-Perot Open Resonator, and other.
The demo will include commonly known dielectric and conductor materials, however, the attendees are also encouraged to bring samples of their choice.
